However, all interests along the southwestern coast of Mexico from Manzanillo northward to Cabo Corrientes should closely monitor the progress of Bud. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 AM CDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Bud was located near latitude 14.7 North, longitude 103.5 West. Bud is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and this general motion with some slowing of forward speed is expected through Tuesday. This track will keep the core of Bud well off the southwestern coast of mainland Mexico. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Bud has the chance to strengthen rapidly during the next day or so. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Bud will begin to affect portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico during the next 2 to 3 days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
