Aletta is moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher gusts. Fast weakening is forecast during the next few days, and Aletta is expected to become a tropical storm by Saturday night. Aletta will likely degenerate into a remnant low by late Monday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 967 mb (28.56 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Aletta will affect portions of the coast of west-central mainland Mexico and the west coast of Baja California Sur through the weekend. Swells are expected to build even higher along these areas early next week due to another weather system to the east of Aletta. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
