DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located near latitude 14.6 North, longitude 109.2 West. Aletta is moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h). A gradual turn to the west-northwest and northwest is expected during the next 2 to 3 days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast and Aletta is expected to become a hurricane later today or early Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches).
