DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 AM MDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was located near latitude 14.7 North, longitude 107.1 West. Aletta is moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next 2 to 3 days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Aletta could become a hurricane by late Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
