DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Fernanda was located near latitude 17.7 North, longitude 136.3 West. Fernanda is moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Fernanda is expected to weaken to a tropical storm tonight. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km).
