DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM CVT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hermine was located near latitude 20.2 North, longitude 20.8 West. Hermine is moving toward the north near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through tonight. A turn to the northeast should occur by late Sunday, followed by a turn to the northwest by Monday night. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected to commence tonight, and Hermine could become a remnant low on Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Tropical Storm Hermine is expected to produce 3 to 6 (75 to 150 mm) inches of rainfall with localized higher amounts up to 10 inches (250 mm) across the Canary Islands through this weekend.
