Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Low pressure of 1008 mb is over the eastern Gulf near 25N85W, with a cold front extending to 21N87W. Gale force north winds are reaching the offshore Veracruz waters. Similar winds are also over the waters to the west of the low. Strong to near gale force northerly winds are elsewhere northwest of the front and low. The gales will diminish this afternoon as the low tracks east-northeastward across the rest of the southeastern Gulf. Rough to very rough seas are being produced by the strong to gale force winds. The front and low pressure will exit the basin tonight allowing for marine conditions to improve. Rough seas will continue over portions of the southern Gulf of Mexico into early Mon as high pressure settles over the region. Fresh southerly return flow is expected for the western Gulf Wed and Wed night as the high shifts eastward. These winds diminish Thu as a frontal boundary approaches the NW Gulf.
