000 FZNT32 KNHC 231439 OFFN21 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 939 AM EST Tue Jan 23 2024 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast for the Gulf of Mexico Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A sharp surface trough extending from the central Gulf to the NE Gulf is producing strong to near-gale force winds and rough seas, along with showers and thunderstorms. Expect these conditions to persist through today as the trough drifts northeastward. The trough should weaken tonight, and the winds and seas will then subside. Dense marine fog is possible near the Texas and Louisiana coasts through Wed morning. Otherwise, the pressure gradient between strong high pressure east of the area and lower pressures over Texas and Mexico will lead to a continuation of fresh SE winds across most of the Gulf through Wed. Winds will diminish a bit by late Wed before a weak cold front moves into the NW Gulf toward the end of the week.
