Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A 1007 mb low has moved inland over the eastern Florida Panhandle, with the associated cold front extending southward to the Yucatan Channel. This front will move SE of the area by Sun. Gales are developing in the NE Gulf behind the cold front as the low pressure strengthens, and these conditions are forecast to prevail through Sun. Elsewhere, strong to near gale force northerly winds will dominate. Rough seas of 12 to 16 ft will encompass much of the Gulf during this time. Conditions will improve from W to E Sun night into Mon, as high pressure builds into the basin. This high pressure will move quickly E and out of the area Mon night into Tue, allowing strong to near gale SE to SE return flow to develop over the W Gulf. Looking ahead, the next cold front will emerge off of the Texas coast on Thu. Gulf of Mexico N of 26N W of 87W ...GALE WARNING TONIGHT... .TONIGHT...NW winds 25 to 35 kt.
