Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Gale-force NW winds continue over the Veracruz
offshore waters in the wake of a cold front that currently
extends SE of the basin. Very rough to high seas are expected in
this area. Fresh to strong N winds prevail elsewhere across most
of the Gulf waters. The gale-force winds across Veracruz will
briefly drop below gale force this evening, then pulse back
tonight and persist through Sun evening. Strong winds over the
SW Gulf of Mexico will end by Mon as well as seas dropping below
12 ft. Winds will become moderate to fresh for the northern and
eastern Gulf tonight.
