Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...Disorganized showers and thunderstorms are over the central Gulf are associated with an upper disturbance and a surface trough over this part of the Gulf. Strong winds and rough seas, at times, are being produced by this activity. This activity is expected lift in a general northward motion through the early part of the week. Fresh to strong southeast winds and rough seas are ongoing elsewhere from the south-central Gulf to the northwest Gulf, between a strong ridge over the western Atlantic and lower pressure over southern Mexico. Winds and seas will diminish into Mon as the low pressure weakens, except for pulses off fresh to strong winds off the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, mainly at night. Looking ahead, a ridge will build from westward from the western Atlantic across the northern Gulf through mid-week. The associated gradient between the ridge and low pressure with a cold front west of the area will support fresh southeast return flow over the western Gulf Tue through late Wed. The cold front is expected to move into the western Gulf on Thu and weaken as it reaches from the NE Gulf to the eastern Bay of Campeche on Fri. It will be followed by gentle to moderate north to northeast winds and by gentle winds on Fri. Gulf of Mexico N of 26N W of 87W .TONIGHT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt.
