Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A strong cold front continues to move across the Gulf waters producing gale-force winds and very rough seas. The front extends from near Ft. Myers, FL to Merida in the Yucatan peninsula. The front will exit the basin by early this evening. Winds are gradually diminishing below gale force, except in the Bay of Campeche, but strong northerly winds will continue to affect the Gulf region through this evening. Seas will gradually subside from NW to SE on Sun, with seas below 8 ft on Mon. High pressure in the wake of the front will shift eastward through Mon, allowing for fresh east to southeast return flow to set up over the Gulf in advance of the next cold front. This cold front is expected to enter the far NW Gulf late Mon night, and reach from the western Florida panhandle to the eastern Bay of Campeche by late Tue. Fresh winds will precede and follow this front. Gulf of Mexico N of 26N W of 87W .TONIGHT...NE winds 15 to 25 kt. Seas 7 to 10 ft. .SUN...E winds 10 to 15 kt.
