Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A ridge extends from high pressure over the western Atlantic across the Gulf coast states. The pressure gradient between this area of high pressure and low pressure over Mexico and the southwestern Gulf of Mexico is supporting fresh to strong SE winds over much of the Gulf of Mexico, with seas up to 12 ft. The area of high pressure will weaken over the next few days, loosening the pressure gradient which will diminish winds and decrease seas across the basin.
