Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A trough extends from the NW Gulf to near 23N90W as high pressure extends from the SE U.S. to the central gulf. A weakening cold front from SW Louisiana to 26N96W will merge with the trough Thursday through Friday night. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are over the eastern portion N of 23N and E of 74W ahead of a mid to upper level trough. This trough will help to intensify the low and drive it well to the NE of the forecast waters on Friday as high pres builds in over the area behind it. A cold front will trail from the low to 24N64W to near the northern coast of Hispaniola Friday night as high pressure continues to build over the area. The front will gradually weaken to a trough as it moves across the far SE waters Saturday and Saturday night and dissipate on Sunday.
