Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A trough extends from the NW Gulf to just NW of the N central Yucatan Peninsula as high pressure extends from the SE U.S. to the central gulf. A cold front just offshore the Texas coast will merge with the trough Thursday through Friday night. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are over the eastern portion N of 23N and E of 74W ahead of an upper trough. The upper trough will help develop a surface low over the extreme far eastern waters by Thursday evening. The low will move well to the NE of the forecast waters on Friday as high pres builds in over the area.
