Southeast Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A trough from S central Louisiana to Corpus Christi will drift E across the N central Gulf through early on Monday. A strong cold front presently just inland the Texas coast will sweep across the entire Gulf through Tuesday night, reaching the far SE Gulf early on Wednesday and to the NW Caribbean Sea Wednesday night. Winds behind the front are expected to reach gale force near Veracruz Mexico from midday on Monday to early on Tuesday morning. Strong high pressure in the wake of the front will bring fresh to strong northerly winds over much of forecast waters Wednesday afternoon, then diminish through Thursday afternoon as the high center shifts to the NE Gulf. A strong cold front is forecast to move off the southeastern United States coast Tuesday morning, reach from near 31N77W to the NW Bahamas and to NW Cuba early on Wednesday, then begin to weaken as it reaches from near 31N73W to the central Bahamas and to E central Cuba late Wednesday night. The cold front will continue to weaken as it reaches from near 31N68W to the SE Bahamas and to eastern Cuba Thursday afternoon. The cold front will extend from near 27N65W to 24N70W, and as a dissipating stationary front to eastern Cuba by late Friday. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to precede the front.
