Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A trough over the central Gulf will weaken as it
moves into the NW Gulf through tonight, allowing associated
strong winds and seas over the NE and N central Gulf to
diminish. T.S. Nate in western Caribbean near 18.7N 85.0W at
11 AM EDT is forecast to move into the southern Gulf of Mexico
tonight reaching 224.8N 88.3W Sat morning, then intensifying to
a hurricane before reaching 28.1N 89.3W Sat evening. Nate will
make landfall over the central Gulf coast Sat night then move
well N of the area late Sun. More tranquil marine conditions are
expected early next week in the wake of Nate. 

.THIS AFTERNOON...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. E to SE
winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 3 to 6 ft. Numerous showers and scattered
thunderstorms. 
.TONIGHT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. E to SE winds
15 to 20 kt, increasing to 25 to 30 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to
6 ft. Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. 
.SAT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. SE winds 25 to 30 kt.
Seas 3 to 10 ft. Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. 
.SAT NIGHT...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS POSSIBLE. SE to S winds
25 to 30 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to

.SYNOPSIS...Strong high pres N of the area will continue to 
support fresh NE to E flow W of 72W early today. Winds will 
diminish across the basin later today as the pressure gradient 
significantly relaxes. A trough may develop along 70W by early
Sat and drift W into the Bahamas through early next week.

.THIS AFTERNOON...SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 8 ft. Scattered
showers.
