High pressure ridging extending from western Atlantic to across the eastern and central Gulf will change little through the week. The gradient between weak low pressure over southern Alabama and the ridge will allow for fresh southwest winds over the NE Gulf waters to continue through early this morning before diminishing to moderate speeds. Fresh to strong northeast to east winds will pulse over the waters adjacent to the western Yucatan Peninsula through early this morning and again tonight. The northern portion of a tropical wave will move from the western Caribbean Sea over the Bay of Campeche on Wed, then weaken to a trough and track northwestward across the western Gulf Wed night through Thu night, and reach to the near the Texas coast on Fri. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms with this feature. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... The combination of a tropical wave currently over the central Caribbean near 75W and high pressure north of the area will support a pressure gradient that will allow for fresh to strong east winds over the south-central Caribbean through early on Wed. Fresh to strong east winds are again expected over the Gulf of Honduras tonight, then diminish to moderate to fresh speeds through the remainder of the forecast period. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... An inverted trough extending along a position from near 29N75W to the southeastern Bahamas will continue to track westward across the rest of the Bahamas through this evening and move inland central and southern Florida on Tue. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will accompany this trough. The pressure gradient between a high pressure ridge over the northern forecast waters and this trough will allow for generally gentle to moderate east to southeast winds N of 22N and moderate to fresh east winds S of 22N through the end of the week.
