852 AGXX40 KNHC 181843 MIMATS Marine Weather Discussion NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 243 PM EDT Thu Jul 18 2019 Marine Weather Discussion for the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Tropical North Atlantic from 07N to 19N between 55W and 64W and the Southwest North Atlantic including the Bahamas ...GULF OF MEXICO... A high pressure ridge will remain near the northern Gulf coast through Sun night, then weaken on Mon in response to a weak front will move across the southeastern U.S. and the far north-central and NE Gulf. Gentle to moderate east to southeast winds will generally continue across the basin, except fresh to occasionally strong winds to the NW of the Yucatan peninsula during the evening and overnight hours through the period. Scattered showers and thunderstorms confined to the far SW Gulf from 18N to 23N and between 94W and 96W are being sustained by an elongated upper-level low centered near 23N94W. This activity is expected to remain rather active through through early on Fri, at which time the upper low will be weakening along the northeast coast of Mexico. Satellite imagery shows large outflow boundaries racing northward away from the convection. Strong gusty winds and rough seas are likely accompanying these boundaries. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure north of the area will support fresh to strong trade winds over the central Caribbean through the forecast period. Locally strong trade winds will pulse across the Gulf of Honduras each night through Sun night. A tropical wave will move across the eastern Caribbean from early Thu through Fri night, with scattered showers and thunderstorms accompanying it. The wave is expected to weaken as it moves across the central Caribbean. Another tropical wave will move across the tropical N Atlantic waters Sat and Sat night, then across the eastern Caribbean Sun through Mon night before it weakens as it moves across the central Caribbean Tue and Tue night. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected within this wave as well. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A high pressure ridge roughly along 29N/30N will maintain gentle to moderate east to southeast winds through Mon night. Winds will pulse to fresh to strong between the southeastern Bahamas and Hispaniola, primarily during the evening hours through the period. Scattered showers and thunderstorms over the far western Atlantic from about 26N to 30N and west of 77W are primarily due to mid- level trough and corresponding upper-level low located near 27N75W.
