A nearly stationary frontal boundary stretches along the U.S. coast from central Texas to western Florida. The western portion of the front will lift slowly northward, and the eastern portion will dissipate today. A cold front will enter the NW Gulf late tonight, with strong winds expected behind the front along the coast of Mexico in the western Gulf. A reinforcing push of cold air will follow late Sat into Sun as the front reaches from the NE Gulf to the SW Gulf. Model guidance has been trending away from gale force winds in the SW Gulf, and the front may not push much past 25N in the eastern Gulf. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... High pressure north of the region will maintain strong trade winds over the south-central Caribbean, with near gale force winds along the coast of Colombia each night this week. Fresh NE winds are expected through the Windward Passage into Sat. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge of high pressure along 25N remains the dominant synoptic feature across the basin. An area of low pressure moving off the Carolina coast will move eastward today and drag a trailing cold front and accompanying strong SW winds across the waters north of 27N through Sat. Latest GFS guidance shows the possibility of SW winds briefly reaching gale force SE of the low center today near 31N67W.
