A surface trough curves from 25N92W to 22N91W to 20N88W in the N part of the Yucatan Peninsula. extends north to south over the central Gulf. Latest surface observations indicate light breezes near the trough. Gentle to moderate winds prevail elsewhere. Seas are in the 3-4 ft range in the vicinity of the trough, and 2-4 ft elsewhere. A cold front will move into the western Gulf and merge with the trough Thu/Fri, stalling from near the Florida panhandle to Tampico, Mexico Fri and Sat. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A broad trough prevails in the W and NW sections of the Caribbean Sea. This trough will remain in the same area for the next several days. The latest surface observations have been indicating fresh to strong winds along the coast of Nicaragua, and in the south central sections of the Caribbean Sea. Moderate to fresh winds prevail elsewhere across the Caribbean, and in the tropical N Atlantic forecast zones. Sea heights of 8 feet were being observed during the morning hours, after sunrise, within 60 nm of the coast of Nicaragua from 11N to 14N. The 20 to 25 knot winds and 8 foot sea heights were forecast to weaken into the afternoon. The sea heights were ranging from 6 feet to 8 feet in the south central Caribbean Sea, and 3-5 ft elsewhere across the Caribbean. Seas are in the 5-6 ft range in the tropical N Atlantic waters. Fresh to strong winds will prevail in the south central Caribbean through Thursday before diminishing on Friday. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A surface trough extends from the southeast Bahamas toward SE Cuba/the Windward Passage eastern, with high pressure prevailing across the northern waters. The latest surface observations indicate strong winds from 25N to 29N between 71W and 77W, moderate-to-fresh winds from 25N southward, and gentle-to- moderate winds N of 29N. Outside the Bahamas, seas are in the 4-5 ft range, while 1-2 ft seas prevail west of the Bahamas. The trough will shift eastward during the next few days. A broad area of low pres is expected to develop just to the E of the eastern zones Thu through Fri.
