A low level NNW-SSE orientated trough will extend across the W- Central and SW Gulf waters this week with a surface low along the trough axis with favorable environmental conditions for tropical cyclone formation. An E to W ridge will develop across the northern gulf early this week, and then strengthen during the middle of the week behind a cold front with fresh to locally strong NE winds across the NW Gulf on Wed night, with these conditions spreading S across the W-Central and SW Gulf on Thu. Strong NE flow expected across the NE Gulf waters on Fri night. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... Fresh nocturnal trades are expected along the NW coast of Colombia tonight, then the gradient will relax. NE-E swells well in advance of HURCN Irma, in the form of 7-8 ft seas, will reach the NE passages this evening. Tropical storm force and greater conditions will have moved into the tropical waters near 17N55W, and will reach the vicinity of the northern Leewards on Tue afternoon and vicinity of the Virgin Islands early Wed. Tropical Storm force southerly winds will shift W across the NE Caribbean to the N of about 17N...including Atlc passages, through mid week, with strong to near storm force winds elsewhere N of about 16N. Southerly storm force winds expected across Windward passage on Thu night and Fri. Depending on Irma track, could see storm force winds along S coast of Cuba on Sat.
