A ridge of high pressure prevails over the northern waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict light to gentle winds prevailing over much of the Gulf waters, except for the northwest Gulf where gentle to moderate winds prevail. Seas are in the 1-2 ft range over the eastern Gulf and 2-3 ft over the western Gulf. The ridge will prevail over the northern waters through Sun. A thermal trough will develop during the evening hours over the Yucatan Peninsula before pushing offshore into the SW Gulf each night. A surge of moderate to fresh N-NE winds will accompany this trough, with briefly building to 5 ft in association with these winds. Gentle to moderate E to SE winds and seas of 4 ft or less will prevail across much of the Gulf through Sun. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A ridge of high pressure prevails north of area. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict fresh to strong winds over the central Caribbean, gentle to moderate winds over the eastern and western Caribbean, and moderate to fresh winds over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. Seas are in the 7-9 ft range over the central Caribbean, 4-6 ft over the eastern and western Caribbean, and 5-7 ft over the tropical north Atlantic forecast zones. These general conditions will prevail over the Caribbean waters through the end of the week. A tropical disturbance will move northeast of the Lesser Antilles this weekend. This will loosen the pressure gradient over the Caribbean waters bringing a decrease in winds and seas this weekend. ..SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... A ridge of high pressure prevails over the northern waters. Latest satellite derived winds and seas along with ship, buoy, and CMAN data depict light to gentle winds over the northern waters with gentle to moderate winds prevailing over the southern waters. Seas are in the 3-4 ft range over the northern waters, 4-6 ft over the southern waters outside the Bahamas, and 1-3 ft west of the Bahamas. The ridge will prevail over the northern waters through the forecast period with the same conditions expected to prevail. Winds will briefly strengthen each evening along the northern coast of Hispaniola.
