Weak ridging over the western Atlantic and SE United States will continue to maintain gentle to moderate breezes and slight seas over the eastern and north centralGulf, and moderate to fresh breezes with 3 to 5 ft seas elsewhere, subsiding through Friday. Looking ahead, winds will increase over the SW Gulf by late Saturday ahead of a low pressure area expected to approach the region through northern Central America, with fresh winds likely off the northwest coast of the Yucatan peninsula by late Sunday. ...CARIBBEAN SEA AND TROPICAL N ATLANTIC FROM 07N TO 19N BETWEEN 55W AND 64W... A recent scatterometer pass indicated strong winds are ongoing over the Gulf of Honduras. These winds will diminish later this morning, but will likely regenerate tonight and the next several nights. A tropical wave between Colombia and Haiti will move across the southwest Caribbean through tonight. A second tropical wave currently entering the eastern Caribbean will move across the central Caribbean through Thu, and the southwest Caribbean Fri and Sat. The tropical aes will become absorbed in a broad area of low pressure forming over Central America. The low pressure will remain poorly organized through Sat and Sun as it moves into northern Central America and southern Mexico, but will be able to enhance southeast winds across northwest Caribbean. High pressure north of the area will support moderate to fresh trade winds over the eastern Caribbean and tropical north Atlantic west of 55W through Sun. ...SW N ATLANTIC INCLUDING THE BAHAMAS... The subtropical ridge will extend westward through today along 32N, then slowly sink southward to near 28N by late week. The ridge will maintain gentle to moderate winds and slight seas north of 22N, and moderate to fresh trade winds south of 22N. winds will pulse to locally strong each night north of Hispaniola and near the approaches to the Windward Passage through Friday night.
