DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Kenneth was
located near latitude 20.9 North, longitude 133.1 West.  Kenneth is
moving toward the north-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h), and this
general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Continued weakening is forecast during the next
48 hours, and Kenneth is likely to become a tropical storm later
today and weaken to a tropical depression by late Wednesday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles
(150 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 984 mb (29.06 inches).
