DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 900 AM MDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fernanda was
located near latitude 12.0 North, longitude 111.5 West. Fernanda is
moving toward the west near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this motion is
expected to continue with some increase in forward speed during the
next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased near 40 mph (65 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected during the next
48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
