DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Seymour was
located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 117.7 West. Seymour is
moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h) and this
motion is expected to continue into Wednesday.  A turn toward the
northwest is expected by Wednesday night, followed by a turn toward
the north-northwest with a decrease in forward speed on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds have rapidly increased to near 150 mph (240
km/h) with higher gusts.  Seymour is a strong category 4 hurricane
on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Some slight
strengthening is possible overnight and into Wednesday morning,
followed by steady weakening Wednesday night and Thursday.

Seymour remains a small tropical cyclone. Hurricane-force winds
extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and
tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 943 mb (27.85 inches).
