DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Dolores was
located near latitude 21.2 North, longitude 114.3 West.  Dolores is
moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h).  A turn
toward the northwest and north-northwest is expected over the next
48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Continued weakening is forecast during the
next 48 hours, and Dolores is likely to become a tropical storm
later today.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles
(220 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 982 mb (29.00 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF:  Swells generated by Dolores are affecting portions of the
coast of southwestern Mexico and Baja California Sur.  These swells
could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
