DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1000 PM CDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Blanca was
located near latitude 13.2 North, longitude 104.0 West.  Blanca is
nearly stationary, and only a slow and erratic motion is expected
for the next day or two.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Rapid strengthening is forecast during the next 48
hours, and Blanca is forecast to become a major hurricane by late
Wednesday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches).
