AT 200 PM PDT...2100 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM LORENA WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 22.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE 110.3 WEST. LORENA IS
MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH...15 KM/H.  A DECREASE IN
FORWARD AND A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTH IS EXPECTED OVER THE
WEEKEND.  ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER SHOULD REMAIN NEAR OR
SOUTHWEST OF BAJA CALIFORNIA FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 45 MPH...75
KM/H...WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  WEAKENING IS FORECAST TO BEGIN ON
SATURDAY.  
 
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 80 MILES...130 KM
FROM THE CENTER.  AN ELEVATED STATION AT CABO PULMO RECENTLY
REPORTED A SUSTAINED WIND OF 47 MPH...76 KM/H...AND A WIND GUST OF
64 MPH...103 KM/H. 
 
THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1005 MB...29.68 INCHES.
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
RAINFALL...LORENA IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE TOTAL RAINFALL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES OVER THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE
BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA...WITH ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF 10
INCHES POSSIBLE. THESE RAINS COULD PRODUCE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH
FLOODS AND MUD SLIDES.
 
WIND...TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS ARE OCCURRING IN PORTIONS OF THE
WARNING AREA AND THESE WINDS COULD CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY. 
TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA LATER
THIS AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY.
