...LOWELL WEAKENS TO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION...

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT ALONG THE SOUTHWESTERN COAST OF
THE SOUTHERN BAJA PENINSULA FROM BAHIA MAGDALENA SOUTHWARD TO CABO
SAN LUCAS.  THIS WATCH COULD BE DISCONTINUED LATER THIS MORNING.
 
INTERESTS ELSEWHERE IN SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA SHOULD MONITOR THE
PROGRESS OF LOWELL.
 
FOR STORM INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...INCLUDING POSSIBLE

AT 200 AM PDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION LOWELL WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 21.9 NORTH...LONGITUDE 112.7 WEST OR ABOUT 190
MILES...310 KM...WEST-SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA
CALIFORNIA AND ABOUT 200 MILES...325 KM...SOUTH OF CABO SAN LAZARO
MEXICO.
 
THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST NEAR 7 MPH...11
KM/HR.  A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST WITH A GRADUAL INCREASE IN
FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED TODAY.  ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF
LOWELL IS FORECAST TO MOVE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA
PENINSULA TONIGHT OR EARLY THURSDAY...THEN MOVE OVER THE SOUTHERN
PORTION OF THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA THURSDAY NIGHT. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/HR...
WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS EXPECTED BEFORE
LOWELL REACHES BAJA CALIFORNIA.  WEAKENING IS FORECAST AS LOWELL
MOVES OVER THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE PENINSULA.
 
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1005 MB...29.68 INCHES.
 
LOWELL IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL THROUGH
THURSDAY ACROSS SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA.  MOISTURE FROM LOWELL
COULD SPREAD INTO THE ADJACENT PORTIONS OF SINALOA AND SONORA
STATES IN MAINLAND MEXICO AND PRODUCE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN 
DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
 
REPEATING THE 200 AM PDT POSITION...21.9 N...112.7 W.  MOVEMENT
TOWARD...NORTH-NORTHEAST NEAR 7 MPH.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...35
MPH.  MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1005 MB.
