000 ABPZ30 KNHC 011423 TWSEP MONTHLY TROPICAL WEATHER SUMMARY NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 8 AM PDT SUN JUNE 1 2003 FOR THE EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC...EAST OF 140 DEGREES WEST LONGITUDE.. ONE TROPICAL CYCLONE...ANDRES...DEVELOPED DURING MAY IN THE EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC BASIN. ON MAY 15TH...AN AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER DEVELOPED SOUTH OF GUATEMALA WITHIN A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE. THIS DISTURBANCE THEN MOVED WESTWARD FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND ORGANIZED INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION ON THE 20TH ABOUT 650 MILES SOUTH OF MANZANILLO MEXICO. LATER THAT DAY THE DEPRESSION STRENGTHENED INTO THE FIRST TROPICAL STORM OF THE SEASON. ANDRES MOVED UNEVENTFULLY TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST UNTIL IT BEGAN TO WEAKEN OVER COOLER WATERS ON THE 24TH AND ITS TRACK TURNED BACK TO THE WEST. ANDRES WEAKENED TO A DEPRESSION ON THE 25TH AND DEGENERATED TO A NON-CONVECTIVE REMNANT LOW ON THE 26TH ABOUT 1050 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
