...HURRICANE MARTY GETTING BETTER ORGANIZED AS IT MOVES TOWARD
SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA...
 
A HURRICANE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA
...FROM BAHIA MAGDALENA SOUTHWARD ON THE WEST COAST AND FROM SAN
EVARISTO SOUTHWARD ON THE EAST COAST.  A HURRICANE WARNING MEANS
THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREA
WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS.  PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND
PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION.
 
A HURRICANE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA
FROM PUNTA ABREOJOS TO BAHIA MAGDALENA ON THE WEST COAST AND FROM
MULEGE TO SAN EVARISTO ON THE EAST COAST.   A HURRICANE WATCH IS
ALSO IN EFFECT FOR MAINLAND MEXICO FROM ALTATA TO GUAYMAS. PORTIONS
OF THE WATCH AREA MAY BE CHANGED TO A HURRICANE WARNING LATER
TONIGHT. A HURRICANE WATCH MEANS THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE
POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA...GENERALLY WITHIN 36 HOURS.

AT 5 PM PDT...0000Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE MARTY WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 21.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 109.6 WEST OR ABOUT 130 MILES...210
KM...SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CABO SAN LUCAS MEXICO.
 
MARTY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR  9 MPH...15 KM/HR.
A SLIGHT INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED LATER TONIGHT AND
EARLY MONDAY...AND THIS TRACK COULD BRING THE HURRICANE NEAR OR
OVER SOUTHERN BAJA CALIFORNIA BY MONDAY MORNING.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR  80 MPH...130 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.  SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
 
HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO  35 MILES... 55 KM...
FROM THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP
TO 145 MILES...230 KM.
 
THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS  983 MB...29.03 INCHES.
 
STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 4 TO 8 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS IS
EXPECTED ALONG THE COAST IN THE WARNING AREA NEAR WHERE THE
HURRICANE WINDS ARE BLOWING ONSHORE.  THIS FLOODING MAY BE
ACCOMPANIED BY LARGE AND DANGEROUS BATTERING WAVES.
 
RAINFALL TOTALS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...ARE
LIKELY ALONG THE PATH OF THE HURRICANE.

TOWARD...NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR  9 MPH.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS... 80 MPH.  MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE... 983 MB.
