HURRICANE WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FROM LA PESCA MEXICO TO PORT
OCONNOR TEXAS.  TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FROM EAST
OF PORT OCONNOR TO FREEPORT TEXAS.

AT 6 PM CDT...2300Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE BRET WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 26.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE  97.3 WEST.  THIS POSITION IS ABOUT
60 MILES NORTH OF BROWNSVILLE...AND ABOUT 70 MILES SOUTH OF CORPUS
CHRISTI.
 
BRET IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NORTHWEST NEAR  8 MPH...13 KM/HR...
AND A TURN TOWARD THE WEST IS EXPECTED LATER TONIGHT AND MONDAY.  

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NOW NEAR 125 MPH...205 KM/HR...WITH
HIGHER GUSTS.   WEAKENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS

RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 15 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...
